Breweries may be heading to Lemon Grove

A new brewpub hosting that local band you love in Lemon Grove? It could happen.The Lemon Grove City Council has hopped on board with other cities across the county, unanimously agreeing to change its zoning laws to allow alcoholic beverage manufacturing in certain areas of the city.A zone change would mean Lemon Grove will allow breweries, wineries, distilleries, brewpubs and wine bars in certain industrial and commercial zones. Along with that would come related uses such as tasting rooms, sales, in-house catering and live music.The council is scheduled to take a final vote on the matter July 18.
David Devries, director of Development Services, said the city recently received a business license application for a brewery in its heavy commercial district.
